Hindleys Limited – Terms and Conditions of Sale
Last updated: 20 October 2026
1. Introduction
Welcome to Hindleys. These Terms and Conditions of Sale govern the purchase of products through our website, www.hindleys.com.
Please read these terms carefully before placing an order. By placing an order with us, you agree to these terms, subject to your statutory rights.
These terms apply to purchases made by individual consumers, businesses and educational institutions. Certain provisions apply specifically to consumers or business customers, as indicated throughout this document.
We reserve the right to update these terms from time to time. Any changes will apply to orders placed after the updated terms have been published and will not affect contracts already entered into.

3. Our Products
Hindleys supplies a range of products and materials, including acrylic sheets, Perspex, wood, plastics, decorative materials and associated accessories.
We make every effort to ensure that product descriptions, specifications, measurements, prices and images displayed on our website are accurate and up to date.
However, please be aware of the following:
-
Colours and finishes: Product colours may vary slightly from those displayed on your screen due to differences in monitor settings, lighting and manufacturing processes.
-
Dimensions and tolerances: Certain materials may be subject to normal manufacturing tolerances, where clearly specified in the product description.
-
Natural materials: Wood and other natural materials may feature variations in grain, colour, texture and appearance.
-
Product availability: All products are subject to availability. We reserve the right to discontinue products or amend specifications, provided this does not affect products already purchased under an agreed contract.
Where colour matching, material characteristics or precise dimensions are particularly important, we recommend ordering a sample or contacting our team before purchasing.
Nothing in this section limits your statutory rights where products are faulty, misdescribed or otherwise fail to meet applicable legal requirements.
4. Placing an Order
To place an order through our website:
-
Select the products you wish to purchase and add them to your basket.
-
Review your basket, including product quantities, dimensions and specifications.
-
Proceed to checkout, where you can enter your delivery and billing details.
-
Select an available payment method and complete your order.
-
Receive an order acknowledgement by email.
You can review and amend your order before submitting it.
Once your order has been submitted, you will receive an acknowledgement confirming that we have received it. This acknowledgement does not necessarily constitute acceptance of your order.
A legally binding contract is formed when we confirm acceptance of your order, normally by issuing a dispatch confirmation or a separate written confirmation of acceptance.
We reserve the right to decline an order before acceptance for legitimate reasons, including product unavailability, pricing errors, payment issues or delivery restrictions.
If payment has already been taken and we are unable to accept your order, we will refund the amount paid without undue delay.
All orders and communications relating to purchases are conducted in English.
5. Prices and Payment
All product prices are displayed on our website in pounds sterling (GBP), unless otherwise stated.
Where products are offered to consumers, prices will be displayed exclusive of VAT where applicable. Where both VAT-inclusive and VAT-exclusive prices are shown, these will be clearly identified.
Applicable delivery charges and any other mandatory charges will be disclosed before the customer commits to a purchase.
We make every effort to ensure our prices are accurate. However, if a pricing error is identified before your order has been accepted, we will contact you with the correct price and give you the option to proceed or cancel.
We reserve the right to change our prices at any time. Price changes will not affect orders that have already been accepted.
Payment may be made using the payment methods available at checkout, including supported debit cards, credit cards and other payment services offered through our website.
Payment must be received in full before an order is dispatched unless alternative payment arrangements have been agreed in writing.
For approved educational institutions and business customers, alternative payment terms may apply as outlined in Section 7.
6. Delivery and Shipping
We aim to process and dispatch orders as efficiently as possible.
Delivery charges and available delivery options will be displayed during checkout or confirmed through a separate quotation where specialist delivery arrangements are required.
Delivery costs may vary depending on the size, weight, quantity and destination of the products ordered.
Certain items, including large acrylic sheets, oversized materials and specialist products, may require additional packaging or delivery arrangements.
Some products may be dispatched directly from our manufacturers or suppliers.
Delivery Times
Estimated delivery times will be provided during checkout or communicated separately.
We will make reasonable efforts to deliver within the stated timeframe. Where a specific delivery date has not been agreed, consumer orders will be delivered without undue delay and within 30 days of the contract being formed, unless otherwise agreed.
If delivery is delayed, we will notify you as soon as reasonably possible.
Receiving Your Order
Please ensure that the delivery address and contact information provided are accurate.
We recommend checking your order upon arrival and notifying us promptly of any visible damage, missing items or discrepancies.
Where possible, retain the original packaging and take photographs of any damage to assist us in resolving the issue.
Failure to report an issue immediately does not affect your statutory rights.
7. Education Purchase Orders
Hindleys welcomes orders from schools, colleges, universities and other approved educational institutions.
Eligible institutions may place orders using an official purchase order rather than making immediate payment at checkout.
How It Works
-
Once you start shopping and there are products in your basket, you will see an option 'Purchase Order Number'. This can be filled in at any stage during the shopping process.
-
Press 'Complete Order' and we will process it and issue an invoice.
Our payment terms for approved educational purchase orders are strictly 14 days from the invoice date, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Hindleys reserves the right to verify purchase order details, request supporting documentation or decline purchase order payment arrangements where appropriate.
Educational institutions are responsible for ensuring that purchase orders are authorised and that payment is made within the agreed timeframe.
Where payment is overdue, we may suspend further orders on account until outstanding amounts have been settled, subject to applicable law.
8. International and Overseas Orders
We welcome orders from customers outside the United Kingdom.
International orders may be processed through a separate quotation and payment system.
How It Works
-
Add the products you wish to purchase to your basket and submit your quotation request. No payment will be taken at this stage.
-
Our team will review the request and email you a quotation, including relevant package weights, dimensions and payment details.
-
Once you have accepted the quotation and made payment, we will confirm when your order is ready for collection.
-
Arrange collection through your preferred courier and provide any required shipping documentation.
-
We will confirm when your order has been collected.
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, international customers are responsible for arranging and paying for collection and onward transportation through their chosen courier.
Customers may also be responsible for import duties, local taxes, customs clearance charges and other fees imposed by authorities in the destination country.
Any relevant delivery arrangements, additional charges and responsibilities will be explained before an order is accepted.
International Delivery and Risk
For business customers, responsibility for goods collected by a nominated courier will be determined by the agreed quotation and delivery arrangements.
For consumers, responsibility for goods will pass in accordance with applicable consumer law. Where a consumer independently commissions a carrier not offered by Hindleys, the rules regarding transfer of risk may differ.
International customers are responsible for checking whether their chosen products can lawfully be imported into their destination country.
Nothing in this section excludes any mandatory consumer rights applicable to your purchase.
9. Cut-to-Size and Bespoke Products
Certain products may be supplied in dimensions, finishes or specifications selected by the customer.
It is your responsibility to ensure that any measurements, dimensions, colours and specifications submitted with your order are accurate.
Where products are genuinely manufactured, cut or prepared to your individual specifications, or are clearly personalised, they may be exempt from the statutory 14-day change-of-mind cancellation right.
However, not all products cut or prepared following an order automatically qualify for this exemption.
Any applicable restriction on cancellation will be made clear before you place your order.
Once production of a genuinely bespoke product has begun, we may be unable to accommodate requests for changes or cancellation.
This does not affect your statutory rights if products are faulty, damaged, incorrectly supplied or not as described.
10. Consumer Cancellation and Returns
This section applies to customers purchasing products as consumers.
Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, consumers generally have the right to cancel an online purchase within 14 days of receiving their goods, without giving a reason.
The cancellation period normally expires 14 days after the day on which you, or a person nominated by you other than the carrier, receives the goods.
Where an order is delivered in separate shipments, the cancellation period normally begins when the final item is received.
How to Cancel
To exercise your right to cancel, you must inform us of your decision before the cancellation period expires.
You can do this by emailing sales@hindleys.com with your order number and a clear statement that you wish to cancel.
You may also use the cancellation form provided at the end of these terms, although this is not compulsory.
Returning Products
Following cancellation, you must send the products back to us without undue delay and no later than 14 days after notifying us of your decision.
Please contact our team before returning products so that we can provide the correct returns address and any relevant instructions.
For change-of-mind returns, customers are responsible for the direct cost of returning products, provided this was disclosed before purchase.
Where products cannot normally be returned by post, such as large or oversized sheets, information about return costs will be provided before purchase as required by law.
You are entitled to inspect and handle products to establish their nature, characteristics and functionality, as you would reasonably be permitted to do in a shop.
We may make a deduction from your refund where the value of the products has been reduced through handling beyond what is necessary for that purpose.
Exceptions
The statutory change-of-mind cancellation right does not apply to certain products, including goods genuinely made to your individual specifications or clearly personalised.
This exception does not affect your rights where products are faulty, damaged or not as described.
11. Faulty, Damaged or Incorrect Products
We take care to ensure that our products are supplied accurately and in good condition.
If you receive a product that is faulty, damaged, incorrectly supplied or not as described, please contact us at sales@hindleys.com with your order number and details of the issue.
Photographs may help us assess the problem and resolve it more quickly.
For consumers, the Consumer Rights Act 2015 provides legal protections, including the right to receive goods that are:
-
Of satisfactory quality.
-
Fit for their intended purpose, where required by law.
-
As described.
Depending on the circumstances, you may be entitled to a repair, replacement, price reduction or refund.
Consumers generally have a short-term right to reject qualifying faulty goods within 30 days of receiving them, with additional statutory remedies available thereafter.
Where products are faulty or otherwise do not comply with the contract, Hindleys will cover reasonable return costs where required by law.
For business customers, any applicable remedies will be determined by the contract and relevant legislation.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes your statutory rights.
12. Refunds
Where you are entitled to a refund, we will process it in accordance with applicable consumer law and our Returns Policy.
For eligible consumer change-of-mind cancellations, refunds will include the amount paid for the returned products only and providing the products are returned in a resellable condition.
Where products must be returned following a statutory cancellation, we will issue the refund without undue delay and no later than 14 days after receiving the returned products or satisfactory evidence that they have been sent back, whichever is earlier.
Where no products have been supplied, the refund will be made within 14 days of being informed of the cancellation.
Refunds will normally be made using the original payment method unless otherwise agreed.
You will not be charged a refund processing fee for a statutory cancellation.
For further information, please refer to our Returns Policy or contact sales@hindleys.com.
13. Ownership and Risk
Ownership of products will pass to you once we have received full payment and the products have been delivered, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
For consumer orders, responsibility for the products generally passes to you when you, or someone nominated by you other than the carrier, takes physical possession of them.
Where a consumer independently arranges a carrier not offered by Hindleys, responsibility may pass when the goods are handed to that carrier, in accordance with applicable law.
For business customers, the transfer of risk may be determined by the delivery or collection arrangements agreed at the time of purchase.
Until ownership has passed, business customers must not dispose of unpaid goods in a manner inconsistent with Hindleys' ownership rights.
Nothing in this section affects the statutory rights of consumers.
14. Cancellation by Hindleys
We reserve the right to cancel or decline an order where there is a legitimate reason to do so, including:
-
Products becoming unavailable.
-
An obvious pricing or product listing error.
-
Failure to receive payment.
-
Suspected fraudulent or unauthorised transactions.
-
Delivery restrictions preventing us from fulfilling the order.
-
A material breach of these Terms and Conditions.
Where an order is cancelled before acceptance and payment has already been taken, we will refund the amount paid without undue delay.
If a contract has already been formed, we will only cancel it where permitted by the contract and applicable law, and will provide any refund or remedy to which you are entitled.
15. Events Outside Our Control
We will not be responsible for delays or failures caused by events genuinely outside our reasonable control, except where the law provides otherwise.
Such events may include:
-
Severe weather or natural disasters.
-
Transport disruption.
-
Industrial action.
-
Power failures or major technical incidents.
-
Government restrictions.
-
Unexpected supply chain disruptions.
-
Other circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
Where such an event affects your order, we will make reasonable efforts to inform you and minimise any disruption.
If a significant delay occurs, we will explain the available options, including cancellation and refunds where required by law.
This section does not remove or restrict your statutory consumer rights.
16. Limitation of Liability
Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes or limits our liability for:
-
Death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
-
Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
-
Any liability that cannot legally be excluded or restricted.
-
A consumer's statutory rights.
For consumers, we are responsible for losses caused by our breach of contract or failure to use reasonable care and skill where those losses were reasonably foreseeable.
We are not responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable, except where the law provides otherwise.
We supply products to both consumers and business customers. Where products are purchased for personal use, we are not generally responsible for business losses arising from their use.
For business customers, subject to the liabilities that cannot legally be excluded, we will not be liable for indirect or consequential losses, loss of profit, loss of business or loss of anticipated savings, except where otherwise agreed in writing or prohibited by law.
Nothing in this section prevents either party from exercising rights or remedies that cannot legally be excluded.
17. Personal Information and Privacy
We take the protection of your personal information seriously.
Personal information collected during the ordering process will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable data protection legislation.
This may include information required to process orders, arrange delivery, manage payments and communicate with customers.
For further information about how we collect, store and use personal information, please refer to the Privacy Policy available on our website.
18. General Terms
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time to reflect changes in our business practices, website operations or legal requirements.
Any changes will apply to orders placed after the updated terms have been published.
Severability
If any provision of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply.
Waiver
If we do not immediately enforce a provision of these terms, this does not mean that we waive our right to enforce it in the future.
Transfer of Rights
We may transfer our rights or obligations under these terms to another organisation, provided this does not reduce the protections or guarantees available to consumers.
You may not transfer your obligations under a contract without our prior written agreement, except where applicable law provides otherwise.
Entire Agreement
These terms, together with the relevant product descriptions, order confirmation and any expressly agreed quotation or additional terms, form the agreement between you and Hindleys.
Nothing in this provision excludes liability for misrepresentation or affects consumer rights under applicable law.
Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
For business customers, the courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction over disputes arising from these terms, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Consumers retain any mandatory rights to bring proceedings in a court available to them under applicable law, including applicable rights in Scotland and Northern Ireland.
